Associate

Will French represents companies and individuals in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts. His practice spans all stages of litigation, from case initiation through appeal. He has experience handling high-stakes disputes involving financial services, ERISA, insurance coverage, employment, and class actions.

Will regularly briefs dispositive and other substantive motions, manages complex discovery, and supports trial preparation.

Before rejoining Massey & Gail, Will served as a law clerk to Hon. Joel M. Flaum, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and Hon. Andrea R. Wood, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Will earned his J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

  • Represented Nuveen in defamation litigation in Delaware Superior Court brought by a competitor, contributing to summary judgment briefing and pretrial motions. The court granted summary judgment, and the case resolved thereafter.
  • Representing JPMorgan Chase in long-running antitrust litigation in United States District Court for the Southern District of New York involving interchange fees and payment card networks, assisting with trial preparation.
  • Representing a real estate investment company in complex insurance coverage litigation in Washington Superior Court of King County involving interpleader actions and a bad-faith claim against its insurer, including briefing and arguing in opposition to a motion to dismiss; action is currently stayed.
  • Represented financial services professional in qui tam litigation in the Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County against a global private equity firm involving alleged excessive fees charged to state pension funds; resolved through settlement.
  • Representing Veeva Systems Inc. in litigation in Wisconsin Circuit Court of Dane County involving challenges to restrictive covenants imposed by Epic Systems Corporation.
