Massey & Gail Seeks Preliminary Injunction in Connecticut Drug Pricing Case
Massey & Gail partner Jonathan Massey recently argued for a preliminary injunction against a Connecticut drug price cap law on behalf of pharmaceutical distributors. Jonathan Massey explained that distributors do not set prices and that the law violates the Commerce Clause and imperils patient access to important medicines. Massey & Gail Secures Justice for Incarcerated Client in Stateville Case
Massey & Gail LLP is proud to have represented, pro bono, an incarcerated individual in his lawsuit challenging the conditions of his confinement at the thankfully now-closed Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet, Illinois. Partner Constance Grieves and Associate Brigid Carmichael undertook the representation as part of the Northern District of Illinois’ Settlement Assistance Program for pro se plaintiffs. After completing discovery and defeating the defendants’ motion for summary judgment, they secured a $15,000 settlement for their client. We fight hard for our pro-bono clients and are honored to give them the zealous representation they deserve.

Victory in Landmark Antitrust Case for Union Pacific
Massey & Gail LLP was proud to represent Union Pacific Railroad as part of the defense team in one of the most significant and long-running antitrust cases in recent history. The litigation, which originated in 2007, involved more than 100 consolidated cases and approximately 380 plaintiffs, all centered on allegations that the nation’s largest railroads conspired to fix fuel surcharge rates, with claims totaling in the billions of dollars. On June 25, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia granted summary judgment in favor of the railroad defendants, including Union Pacific. The court’s ruling dismissed all claims across two MDLs and an additional individual lawsuit, bringing an end to nearly 18 years of complex and high-stakes litigation.
